In
2 Timothy chapter 4, Paul tells a sad story. A man named Demas who was following Paul and assisting him in His mission work
suddenly lost interest in the things of God. Demas' heart was captured by "the lust of the flesh, the lust of the
eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:16)." The world and the devil
are trying a number of ways to capture the minds and hearts of our young people. Constant exposure to the world creates an
acceptance and desire for it. The Christian life is an exciting and fulfilling life. There is incomparable joy in serving
the Lord (Ps. 63:5-6).Reminding the children that the world promises fulfillment and joy but ends in emptiness and sorrow.
Showing them how those that followed the Lord lived truly exciting and joyful lives, will help protect their hearts against
the evil that is in this present world.
